Cooling Repair

The warmer temperatures the more strain is put on your air conditioner to keep your home comfortable. But how do you know if your ac may need repair? If you see any of the following warning signs, you'll likely need to schedule an air conditioner repair.

  • Little to no airflow

  • AC is blowing warm air

  • Your energy bills are rising

  • Moisture leaks in or around your HVAC system

  • Unusual noises

  • Uneven cooling throughout your home

  • Your AC is constantly running

  • Your home temperature wont lower

Do you need to repair your AC?

If your air conditioner is less than 15-years-old and is showing signs of needing repair, you probably need to schedule an AC repair (if your cooling system is more than 15 years old, it may be time to think about replacing your air conditioner). But before you call us, you may want to try a few things to see if you can improve the system's condition on your own.

What to do before scheduling an AC Repair appointment:

  • Make sure the thermostat is set correctly.

  • Check to see if the furnace filter is clean and change the filter if needed.

  • Inspect the circuit breaker to make sure it wasn't tripped. A tripped breaker could be the start of a problem or just a random occurrence. If it trips more than once, you should have a certified technician diagnose the problem.

  • Look at the condenser (located outside your property) to make sure it is clean and has room to breathe. Shrubs and plants often grow too close to the condenser, preventing air flow, so check to see there is 12 inches of clearance on all sides as well.

  • If you've lost power to your home or you are using a "Saver's Switch" from your utility company, your air conditioner might not run. Find out if your Saver's Switch is activated before calling a technician.

Cooling Installation

Replacing your air conditioner is not a simple decision. You expect to be cool and comfortable in your home but upgrading to new equipment can be a major investment. That's why Moeller Furnace & Air goes beyond the basics by designing and installing air conditioning systems that are fully compatible with your home's distribution system and your personal needs.

When you think of what it takes to replace an air conditioning system, it can seem overwhelming. The good news is that this job is rather straightforward for professional HVAC contractors. When your home already has the ductwork system in place and it has an existing air handler or furnace, it only takes a day to get the job done.

In summer, temperatures are rising, and unfortunately, many air conditioners systems fail under the strain of the hottest temperatures. If your AC system has seen its fair share of Iowa summers, it might not be a bad idea to start thinking about a new system. Fortunately, innovations in AC condensers have made new systems run more efficiently and effectively than ever before.

Benefits:

  • Reduced energy consumption

  • Lower energy bills

  • Improved indoor air quality

  • Increased property value

  • Better air flow throughout your home

Repair vs Replace

Age absolutely matters when it comes to HVAC. If your air conditioning unit is older than 10 years and/or your furnace is older than 15 years, it’s time to consider a replacement.

How they Work:

A mini-split system is a small heating and cooling system that consists of two pieces. The first component is the indoor unit, which can be controlled by either a thermostat, remote control, or both. The second component is the outdoor condenser, which is connected to the indoor unit through the wall. The indoor unit can be located anywhere in your room depending on your preference. We provided mini-split units that can be mounted on the wall, ceiling, or near the floor.

In most cases, a mini-split is supplemental to your whole home heating and cooling system. However, a single outdoor condenser can have up to 4 indoor units attached to it, leaving endless possibilities for your home comfort.

Benefits:

  • A Ductless Heating and Cooling unit is able to distribute cold or warm air more evenly and efficiently than traditional units, resulting in a more comfortable temperature throughout the home.

  • They’re flexible in regards to location and are small in stature. They can be used to heat and cool one room, which is ideal if you’re considering adding an addition to your home. Several models have up to 4 indoor air-handling units connected to one outdoor unit. This allows the unit to heat and cool several rooms or zones within the home.

  • They have a more esthetically pleasing appearance than other add-on units, such as window air conditioners. Most are only 7 inches wide and have a sleek outer appearance. In many cases, they can be hung at any point on a wall, suspended from the ceiling, or mounted into a drop ceiling. Most come with a remote control to make it easy to turn them on and off when they are positioned in a hard to reach area.
